First-time buyers snap up Lancashire dental practice

King Dental & Associates in Carnforth, Lancashire, has been purchased by first-time buyers, brothers-in-law Dr Adam Kantharia and Dr Ibrahim Matadar.

Anne King first established a single-surgery dental practice in 1997 at Carnforth Clinic. In 2004, she acquired a second location on Market Street and combined the two in 2007, forming what is now King Dental & Associates Limited — a five-surgery NHS practice located in a mixed-use area of Carnforth.

After 40 years in dentistry and nearly three decades of growing the practice —including introducing special needs NHS contracts, adding an accessible waiting room and toilets, and creating a dedicated accessible surgery and sterilising suite —Anne and her husband, Derek, decided to sell the business to retire.

Following a confidential sales process led by Olivia McMaster at Christie & Co, the practice was sold to Dr Kantharia and Dr Matadar.

King said: “When we first met Adam and Ibrahim, we recognised that they appreciated the character of the operation and the ethos of the practice we had inculcated, which we saw as ‘a holistic approach to oral healthcare’. We know they have great plans for additional specialisms in the practice and recent expansion of new housing in the area means opportunities for growth are available.”

Dr Kantharia added: “Our vision is to build a modern, progressive dental practice that becomes a trusted name in the community – a place where patients not only receive excellent clinical care, but genuinely enjoy coming in.

We saw a huge interest in this practice, especially from first-time buyers who are ready to start their ownership journey

“We’re planning to expand our range of services, particularly in cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, and dental implants. With Ibrahim’s advanced training in implantology, and our shared experience with Invisalign, we’re able to offer more-comprehensive, in-house treatment options without patients needing to be referred elsewhere.

“We’re also passionate about bringing the latest technology into the practice – including digital scanners and treatment planning tools – to make dentistry more comfortable, efficient, and precise for our patients.

“Beyond the clinical side, we want to create an environment that feels welcoming, supportive, and patient led.

“We’re investing in the team, upgrading the patient journey, and working on community outreach so the practice becomes more than just a dental clinic – it becomes a positive part of people’s lives.”

Commenting on the sale, McMaster added: “A lot of the sales that we deal with are because of the owner retiring after an excellent career in the sector, and this is no exception.

“We saw a huge interest in this practice, especially from first-time buyers who are ready to start their ownership journey.

“This is also a great example of our ability to find the perfect buyer for a practice, even in a more-rural location, proving that the right match is always possible with the right approach.”

King Dental & Associates Limited was sold for an undisclosed price.
